This week, Oscar-winning actress and UN ambassador, Angelina Jolie, revealed a sprawling collection of tattoos on her skin.
The event was the New York premiere of her new film, First They Killed My Father.
Jolie’s backless gown showed off some of her inkings – thought to number about 20 – while accompanying her six children.
Daily Mail reports that her designs include a Tennessee Williams quote, a Buddhist prayer and geographical coordinates of where her children were born.
Her inks include:
- Four Buddhist Sanskrit scripts on her upper back
- Three tats on her middle back by a Thai monk to symbolically bind he with ex-husband Brad Pitt (done just months before her split)
- A Bengal tiger on her lower back.
She has since lasered away many tattoos among them the Chinese characters for death and courage.
