Former Commonwealth Secretary-General, Dr Emeka Anyaoku; incoming first lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu; Co-Founder of Tony Elumelu Foundation, Dr Awele Elumelu; President Of Transcorp Group, Owen Omogiafo; the Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Olalekan Balogun (Alli-Okunmade II) are among the 2023 national award recipients.
The Federal Government had in a publication signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Ibiene Roberts, released a list of 2023 special national honours award recipients.
While Anyaoku will receive the second highest national honour of Grand Commander of the Order of Niger (GCON), the incoming first lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu will receive the Commamder of the Order of Niger (CON) award.
Some of the other awardees include Oba Balogun (CFR), Elumelu(OFR) (Omogiafo (OON), Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu (CON); Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun (CON); former Super Eagles captain, Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha (OON); former Ogun State Governor, Chief Segun Osoba (CFR); former Osun State Governor, Chief Bisi Akande (CFR); Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola (CON); Minister of Youth amd Sports Development, Sunday Dare among others.
Awele Elumelu is the co-founder of Tony Elumelu Foundation(TEF) and chairperson of Avon Medical Practice Limited. She is also the chairperson of Avon Healthcare Limited and oversees the healthcare investments of Heirs Holdings.
