Results of the elections into about eight positions contested at the National Convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is still being awaited as delegates leave the Eagle Square venue in anger and frustration”
President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo reportedly left the venue about two hours after arrival when the convention planning committee chairman, Governor Abubakar Badaru of Jigawa state announced that the results were not ready for announcement.
About 6800 delegates took part in the convention which produced former Edo state governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole as unopposed elected national chairman.
The Nation however reports that supporters of Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha and outgoing national Organising Secretary, Senator Osita Izunaso have continued to put the convention election committee under pressure, invading the podium at will.
According to the report, it took the intervention of security men to bring them under control even as majority of dignitaries present at the convention left the venue, with security operatives, journalists and a few delegates remaining behind without any information as to the next step.
Following what appeared to be tension generated by the the activities of the delegates from Imo, police helicopter had to start patrolling the area.
It is not clear when the results will be announced as the convention chairman and members were nowhere to be found as at 1.55pm when this report was being complied.
