A group within the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Oyo State, known as APC One Voice, on Wednesday accused the state governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde of plotting to unleash mayhem on the local government secretariats in Ibadan.
The group in a statement signed by its secretary, Abass Abiola, alleged that the governor had instructed a former factional chairman of National Union of Road Transport Workers(NURTW) in the state, Mukaila Lamidi, popularly known as Auxiliary to carry out the attack.
Recall that the council chairmen and councillors who were sacked last year by Governor Makinde returned to their various offices on Monday, following the directive by the Inspector General of Police(IGP), Mohammed Adamu.
The statement read in part:”In a few hours time, the peaceful atmosphere in the city of Ibadan may change as the state governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has given firm instruction to Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi aka Auxuliary to unleash mayhem on the LGs across Ibadan city. It is important for the Commissioner of Police to quickly intervene in order to avert violence and unnecessary bloodshed. The LG chairmen have resumed into their various offices without fracas indicating that the people welcomed them. Auxiliary and his thugs should therefore not be allowed to truncate the peaceful atmosphere.”
