Agents of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Sunday, clashed at the collation centre of the Ogun State governorship election in Abeokuta.
Trouble ensued when the PDP agent, Sunkanmi Oyejide, challenged multiple representations of the APC by three agents.
Oyejide also complained that the APC deliberately disrupted the party’s strongholds in the state so as to disenfranchise its members.
“If you look at it very well, the ruling party disrupted the PDP strongholds and disenfranchised our members.
“We want you to take a critical look at it and investigate it. The process must be transparent,” he said
However, the APC agent, simply identified as Adelani, disagreed with the PDP agent’s allegation.
The development put the exercise on hold for about 15 minutes before normalcy returned.
The Returning Officer for the governorship election in the state, Prof. Kayode Adebowale, while resolving the disagreement, asked the APC to choose one among the three agents at the collation center.
He also faulted the PDP agent on the claim the ruling party disrupting its strongholds, saying the rules have been followed.
“We don’t recognise strongholds. The rules have been followed,” Adebowale said.
The exercise continued as more local government collation officers are presenting their results.
