Osun State University was on Wednesday named after the first governor of the old Oyo State, Chief Bola Ige.
The state governor, Rauf Aregbesola, made the announcement during his speech at the school’s 4th and 5th convocation and the installation of Mrs. Folorunso Alakija as the Chancellor of the institution.
Some faculties and other higher institutions in the state were also renamed by Aregbesola, who is the Visitor to the university.
The College of Law at Ifetedo is now Kayode Esho College of Law while the College of Social Sciences and Management in Okuku was renamed Olagunsoye Oyinlola College of Social Sciences.
The College of Agriculture in Ejigbo is now known as Isiaka Adeleke College of Agriculture, while the College of Education in Ipetu Ijesa is now Ezekiah Oluwasanmi College of Education. The College of Humanities and Culture, Ikire, was renamed Eniola Atanda College of Humanities and Culture.
Also, the Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke, was renamed Bisi Akande College of Technology; Osun State Polytechnic, Iree is now known as Sunday Afolabi Polytechnic; College Of Education, Ila Orangun was renamed Adeyemi Oyeduntan College of Education and the College of Education Ilesa was renamed Lawrence Omole College of Education.
