There is palpable fear in Nigeria’s seat of power, Aso Rock Villa, Abuja, following the confirmation on Tuesday that Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Abba Kyari had tested positive for coronavirus.
The confirmation comes amid reports that the seat of power has been placed on lockdown and hours after it was first reported that Kyari was ill and suspected of having coronavirus, after returning from trips to Germany and Egypt.
According to SaharaReporters, the lockdown of Aso Rock Villa, was to prevent a further spread of the virus, especially after Kyari came in contact with several high-ranking Presidency officials.
It was gathered that Kyari met with the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the President, Garba Shehu Babagana Kingibe and Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, in recent days.
Shehu and Kingibe are said to have been in self-isolation since Kyari’s result came out while there are indications that Governor Bello may have followed suit, to protect himself.
Kyari had visited Bello recently over the loss of his mother.
According to reports, Kyari is currently being isolated for treatment at a guest chalet in the Defence House in Abuja.
