Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar of Bauchi State has effected a cabinet reshuffle redeploying commissioners from their ministries to others and approves the creation of a new ministry.
The cabinet reshuffle was announced through a press release issued Thursday signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Bello Shehu Illelah which stated that the governor approved the reshufflement and the creation of the Ministry of Power, Science and Technology.
According to the statement, Barrister Nasiruddeen Mohammed was moved from the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development to the Ministry for Local Government, Garba Sarki Akuyam was moved from the Ministry of Rural and Community Development to the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development.
Sama’ila Mohammed Isa was moved from the Ministry for Local Government Affairs to the Ministry of Rural and Community Development while Mohammed Edrees Abdullahi was moved from the Ministry for Religious Affairs and Community Relations to the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism.
The former Commissioner in the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, Alhaji Baba Madugu was moved to the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Community Relations.
Dr. Yusuf Mahmood was moved from the Ministry of Agriculture to the newly created Ministry of Power, Science and Technology while Mohammed Ghali Abdulhamid moves from the Ministry of Water Resources to oversee the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources.
“Accordingly, His Excellency, the governor has approved the reconstitution of the Ministry of Power, Solid Minerals and Environment. The ministry will now be known as the Ministry of Environment and Solid Minerals and Dr Audu Gani Bogoro will remain as the commissioner.
“A new Ministry is hereby created to be known as Ministry of Power, Science and Technology with Dr. Yusuf Mahmood as the commissioner. Handing and taking over notes should be concluded before 5th December,2016,”it stated.
