Jamaican musician Beenie Man said he missed his headline performance at OVO Fest on Saturday night because he contracted the Zika virus.
Beenie Man — the stage name of Anthony Moses Davis — said on his Instagram account that he’d been bitten by a mosquito carrying Zika. He also said he’s contracted Dengue fever and that he couldn’t get a visa for the Canada show.
Ticketmaster’s page for OVO Fest contains a statement from festival organizers, which confirmed Beenie Man’s cancellation on Saturday due to “immigration issues.”
“In his place we have booked a slew of surprise special guests and of course Machel Montano will still headline as planned, with special guests of his own,” the statement read.
Beenie Man is a Grammy-award winning reggae and dancehall artist from Kingston, Jamaica.
