Reports have it that Boko Haram gunmen attacked the Dalori camp of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), located near University of Maiduguri in Borno State, killing two people.
A top commander of the Civilian-JTF, Abba Aji, who confirmed the attack, said and the insurgents broke in through the back perimeter fence at about 8 p.m on Thursday. He said the gunmen first attacked the soldiers’ station near the camp before gaining entrance, looting stores and leaving on motorcycles.
Premium Times quoted Aji as saying: “It happened a few minutes after 8 p.m. when they (Boko Haram) broke into the camp and killed two persons, an old man a very little child,” he told Premium Times.
“It is really a very sad development that this is still happening,” he added.
A security official attached to the State Emergency Management Agency(SEMA), Bello Danbatta, also confirmed the death of a child and an old man.
Dalori camp is one of the largest of such facilities which have come under attacks in the past few years.
