Students of Government Science Secondary School, Kankara, kidnapped last Friday have been freed, according to the Katsina State Government.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, Ibrahim Kastina, confirmed the release of the studentsto newsmen on Thursday evening.
He said the students were freed at Tsafe, 82.5km by road from Kankara town where they were abducted.
Also, the Personal Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on New Media, Bashir Ahmad, confirmed the development in a post on his Twitter handle.
“The abducted students of the Government Science Secondary School, Kankara has been rescued, the Katsina State Government has confirmed the news. Alhamdulillah!” Ahmad tweeted
On Wednesday, the state governor, Aminu Masari of Katsina said the abducted students were taken to a forest in Zamfara State.
He, however, refuted the allegation that the students were kidnapped by Boko Haram.
