The Federal Court of Appeal in Abuja has upheld the election of the former governor of Akwa Ibom state and the Senate minority leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio, contrary to earlier reports by SaharaReporters that it had been nullified.
A three-man panel of judges, Friday struck out the appeal of Mathew Okorie, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), challenging the judgment of the election petition tribunal, upholding Akpabio’s election.
SaharaReporters had reported earlier that the court which ruled on Thursday, violations to the Electoral Act during the senatorial election between Mr. Akpabio and the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Inibehe Okori informed their ruling.
