President Muhammadu Buhari has extended his vacation which was due to end today, February 5.
The President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina said in a statement that the President has written to the National Assembly “informing of his desire to extend his leave in order to complete and receive the results of a series of tests recommended by his doctors”.
Last night, President Buhari, via his Twitter handle, had asked Nigerians to expect him back in the country today as he had fully rested and eager to get back to work.
However, Adesina explained that “the President had planned to return to Abuja this evening, but was advised to complete the test cycle before returning. The notice has since been dispatched to the Senate President, and Speaker, House of Representatives.
“Mr. President expresses his sincere gratitude to Nigerians for their concern, prayers and kind wishes”.
Before this announcement, Nigerians have anxiously been waiting for the President’s return, expecting that it would finally put paid to insinuations that he was terminally ill as was widely rumoured last week.
