President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the postponement of the National Executive Committee(NEC) meeting of the All Progressive Congress(APC) scheduled for Tuesday.
Governors elected on the party’s platform met with the President on Monday to fashion a way out of the leadership crisis bedeviling the ruling party.
At the end of the meeting which lasted for about 15 minutes, the chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum and governor of Kebbi State, Atiku Bagudu, told State House correspondents that the president agreed to their request for the postponement the meeting.
He said the meeting will hold when the governors have been able to resolve the present crisis in the party, adding that the postponement is indefinite.
When asked whether Buhari approved the postponement, Bagudu replied, “Yes. The President did. He is very happy!”
The meeting, which started at 3 pm, took place behind closed doors inside the president’s office.
The governors in attendance were those of Ogun, Osun, Ondo, Kwara, Kano, Nasarawa, Edo, Kebbi, Jigawa, Gombe, Borno, Niger, Plateau, Lagos, Katsina, and Imo States while the governors of Kaduna, Ekiti, Yobe, and Kogi States were absent.
