President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the Central Bank of Nigeria to re-introduce the old N200 notes into circulation.
In his state of the nation broadcast on Thursday morning, Buhari also said old N200 notes will remain legal tender and be circulated by the CBN till April 10, 2023.
He added that people who still held the old N200, N5000 and N1000 notes will be able to redeem them till April 10,2023 at any CBN branch and designated centers.
The president noted that he has ordered CBN to deploy all resources to make the supply of new naira notes seamless and also intensify collaboration with anti-corruprion agencies to prosecute officials of banks and others hoarding the new notes.
