Cristiano Ronaldo has tested positive for coronavirus, the Portuguese Football Federation said in a statement Tuesday.
A statement by the Federation said: “The Portuguese international is doing well, without symptoms, and in isolation.”
Portugal is due to play against Sweden on Wednesday, in Lisbon, as part of the UEFA Nations League tournament.
Ronaldo was among the Portuguese players that faced Antoine Griezmann and Kylian Mbappe’s French team on October 11. The remaining players in the Portuguese team, including Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva and Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes, repeated tests for Covid-19 on Tuesday which came back negative.
Juventus Football Club SpA, the club Ronaldo plays for Italy, saw its shares fall as much as 6.9% in Milan trading after the news.
