The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has frozen “all bank accounts” owned by Akwa Ibom State.
A top government official said the EFCC did not give the state any warning.
Accordimg to him, Governor Udom Emmanuel was shocked with the development on Wednesday.
The development comes a day after Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, raised an alarm that the state’s bank account have been frozen by the EFCC.
It also comes on a day a former governor of the state, Godswill Akpabio, officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress. Governor Emmanuel, like Ortom, are currently PDP governors.
