Members of the Ekiti State House of Assembly on Wednesday held their plenary  in the middle of Oke’sa, the major highway in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti Dtate capital, to protest the freezing of the account of the state governor, Ayodele Fayose, by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC).

Sitting under a canopy on the major road, the lawmakers pledged their support for Fayose and accused the Federal Government of using the EFCC to harass the governor because of his criticism of the President Muhammadu Buhari.

They displayed placards with inscriptions to convey their plight. The inscriptions include: “We are ready for arrest”,”Harrassing Ekiti lawmakers/government won’t give you 2018,” “No matter your media trial and blackmail, on Fayose we stand” and “Leave Fayose alone”

The EFCC had on June 21 had frozen two account numbers 1003126654 and 9013074033, belonging to Fayose at the Zenith Bank alleging that N1.2 billion of the $2.1 billion arms scandal was traced to the accounts.
