Former head of Interim National Government, Chief Ernest Shonekan, is dead.
Shonekan headed the Interim National Government that succeeded the regime of General Ibrahim Babangida after the annulment of the June 12, 1993 presidential election.
Shonekan reportedly died on Tuesday morning at Evercare hospital, Lekki, Lagos State. He was aged 85.
He was the interim head of the Nigerian Government between August 26 and November 17, 1993, before he was ousted in a coup led by late General Sani Abacha.
