A former Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Prof. Olufemi Bamiro has been shot by gunmen.
Sources told Newspeakonline that the former VC is currently in intensive care at the Universiy College Hospital (UCH) where he was rushed to after the shooting which took place last night at Oluyole area in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
It was learnt that the shooting took place as the gunmen tried to kidnap the Ogun State born professor. A team of policemen who responded to a distress call rescued him from the scene.
Bamiro, a professor of Mechanical Engineering, was UI VC between 2005 and 2010 before he was succeeded by Prof. Isaac Adewole, who is now Minister of Health.
