Jammeh declared a 90-day State of Emergency on Tuesday.

Jammeh who has ruled Gambia for 22 years had accepted defeated at the December 1 election but reversed his promise to step down one week later.

His tenure was supposed to expire January 19. He has been under intense local and international pressure to relinquish power to opposition leader, Adama Barrow who was declared winner of the December election.

Jammeh has also lodged a complaint with the country’s Supreme Court.

Already ECOWAS troops are on their way to the country to force him to step down.
