The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced Governor Seyi Makinde as the winner of the gubernatorial election in Oyo State.

The Returning Officer of the governorship election in the state, Prof Adebayo Simeon Bamire, announced the result at the INEC headquarters in Ibadan, on Sunday.

Makinde polled 563,756 votes to defeat the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Teslim Folarin, who polled 256,685 and other candidates.

Makinde won in 31 out of the 33 local governments in the state while Folarin won the remaining two.
