The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the final list of candidates for the forthcoming presidential, senatorial, House of Reps and state Assembly elections.
The Social Democratic Party (SDP) does not have a presidential candidate or running mate for the election as it has failed to resolve the tussle between two persons laying claim to the party’s ticket.
Prof. Jerry Gana, a former Minister of Information, and Mr Donald Duke, a former Governor of Cross River State, are both claiming to be the authentic presidential candidates of the party.
Duke is the prefered choice of the party but the courts recognise Gana. INEC obviously had to release its list without them since the party could not reach a consensus.
The presidential list released by INEC has a total of 72 presidential candidates and their running mates.
