Issa Hayatou has lost the CAF presidency to Ahmad Ahmad of Madagascar.
Results of the elections held on Thursday released on CAF twitter handle shows that Ahmad polled 34 votes while Hayatou polled 20 votes.
The election was held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Hayatou had been in the CAF Executive Committee since 1986. He became CAF President on March 10, 1988. Today’s ouster ends his presidency that has spanned 29 years.
