Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Momoh Jimoh has been impeached.
He was accused of financial recklessness and misconduct. Seventeen out of the 25 lawmakers in the state endorsed his impeachment today.
Jimoh is a PDP lawmaker.
The impeachment, sources say, may not be unconnected with highwire politicking in the state to placate the people of Kogi East.
It is instructive to note that the governor-elect, Alh. Yahaya Bello and the impeached Speaker are from the same Okene Local Government Area.
Meanwhile, member representing Ogori/Magongo Constituency in the House, Hon. Godwin Osiyi has emerged as the new Speaker.
The Kogi State House of Assembly is made up of 14 PDP members and 11 APC members.
