Seven members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have resigned from office.
According to reports, the seven NWC members are deputies in their respective offices.
It was gathered that they promised to remain loyal to the PDP but said they will not be able to work with the current NWC.
Those who resigned include the deputy national financial secretary; deputy legal adviser; deputy national auditor; deputy national publicity secretary; deputy women leader and deputy organising secretary.
They were thought to have taken the action to put pressure on the National Chairman of the party, Prince Uche Secondus, to vacate his position.
They also alleged that there is lack of financial transparency in the leadership of the party.
The party’s National Organising Secretary, Colonel Austin Akobundu (rtd), confirmed the development to Nigerian Tribune. He, however, said a statement would be issued after an emergency meeting.
