The Rivers State governorship election tribunal has sacked the state Governor, Nyesom Wike and ordered INEC to conduct fresh elections.
“We are in agreement that the evidence of the witnesses of Wike and INEC is incredible and unreliable” the tribunal stated. “We are satisfied that the petitioners have proved their case”
The judgment was delivered following the petition by Dakuku Peterside, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, challenging the election of Mr. Wike as Rivers State Governor in the election.
The Rivers governorship election, which was criticised by local and international observers, witnessed the largest amount of violence both in its build-up and after the elections.
