The United States of America has finally opened its embassy in Jerusalem, Israel. The opening ceremony is happening just as deadly clashes and protests by Palestinians are also going on in Gaza.
At least 41 people, all Palestinians, have been killed as up to 35,000 Palestinian protesters try to breach the border security being manned by the Israeli Defence Forces.
The US chose to open the embassy, today, May 14, to coincide with Israel’s 70th anniversary as a sovereign state.
The embassy move from Tel Aviv is a major campaign promise by President Donald Trump. It has however been condemned by the international community including the United Nations.
