A 34-year-old transgender man, Trystan Reese, is pregnant for his gay partner, Biff Chaplow. The couple recently announced that they are expecting their first biological child. They are already parents to two adopted children.
According to Independent UK, the couple from Portland, Oregon, announced their good news on WNYC podcast, the Longest Shortest Time.
The report said after experiencing a miscarriage at six weeks last year, the couple were concerned that they had missed their ‘only’ chance. They however decided to try again and “six months into trying, Trystan woke up feeling sick, proceeded to take a pregnancy test and discovered that he was in fact expecting”
Because of their miscarriage, Trystan revealed that he became obsessed in the early days of the pregnancy, neurotically weighing himself and taking multiple pregnancy tests.
But, that wasn’t the only thing the couple were concerned about. Ahead of their six-week ultrasound, the dads decided to call ahead to the ob-gyn’s office to explain their situation in advance to let them know how to treat a pregnant trans-dad.
“I can feel someone looking at my face and searching for the remnants of womanhood,” Trystan explained. “They kind of squint their eyes a little bit and I can tell they’re trying to take away my beard, they’re trying to de-transition me in their heads.”
But the couple were welcomed to the ante-natal procedures.
