Barely 48 hours after sacking the former Registrar and Chief Executive of the National Examinations Council (NECO), President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Prof. Godswill Obioma as the Registrar and Chief Executive of the examination body.

Obioma, a Professor of Education Measurement and Evaluation, will have an initial tenure of five years, which took effect from May 14.
“President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Prof Godswill Obioma as the Registrar and Chief Executive. The registrar on Friday formally took over the affairs of the council from the former acting registrar, Abubakar Gana, at the council’s headquarters in Minna.

The president had on Wednesday terminated the appointment of Prof Charles Uwakwe as the council’s registrar over various offences bordering on financial impropriety.
Alongside Uwakwe, four senior officials were also dismissed.
