President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday received the report of the screening of his ministerial nominees at the presidential villa.
Senate President, Bukola Saraki presented the list of approved nominees to him after a successful screening and confirmation of all 36 nominees by the senate.
Buhari, during the presentation, reiterated his earlier position that not all ministers would be assigned portfolios.
President Buhari said that he had pruned the number of ministries adding that though the constitution stipulated 36 ministers, the available ministries were not that number.
Buhari restated his stance in spite of what his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, told Daily Trust on Monday.
Shehu had said: “What the president meant (in the interview granted) was that not all the ministers in his cabinet will have the full control of the ministries. You know it is not possible to have the number of ministries more than the number of ministers. Even former President Goodluck Jonathan had 28 ministries and 42 ministers”.
