The 20th Bola Ige memorial symposium will hold on Tuesday, December 21,2021,at the Banquet Hall, Lagos Airport Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos State.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the chairman of the organising committee , Comrade Awa Bamiji, the symposium, organised by Bola Ige Center for Justice, includes annual memorial lecture and cultural performances.
This year’s symposium, tagged, ‘Two decades of injustice: What are the implications on Nigerian democracy?’ will be delivered by the lieutenants of the late Cicero of Esa Oke, including legal Luminary, Chief Adeniyi Akintola, (SAN), and Dr Olu Agunloye, former Minister of Power and Steel Development.
Chairman of the occasion is Gen. Buba Marwa (rtd), while the co-chairman is Chief Akin Olujinmi(SAN). The Chief Host is Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Executive Governor of Lagos State.
The Special Guest of Honour is President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, while the Guests of Honour are Senator Ahmed Lawan, Senate President; Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, Speaker, Federal House of Representatives; Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, the Executive Governor of Osun State and Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, the immediate past governor of Osun State and Minister of Interior
The Keynote address will be delivered by the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo.
Chief Michael Koleoso, former Secretary to Oyo State Government; and Justice Badejoko Adeniji (rtd), immediate past Chief Judge of Oyo State are the respective father and mother of the day.
The Principal Hosts are Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, National Leader, All Progressives’ Congress and Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, the HSpeaker, Lagos State House of Assembly while the Hosts are Architect Muyiwa Ige and Mrs Funso Adegbola (Nee Ige).
“Since drug abuse is the root of every crime in our society, the event will be used to kick off the advocacy against drug abuse by the Grand Council of Yoruba Youths in conjunction with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and it will equally be used to bring to an end the three – month triple celebration of Yoruba National Day, Yoruba Youths @ 20 and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu @ 69.
Some prominent Nigerians including the Guest Speaker, Agunloye, would be awarded the Odu’a Ori Olokun plaque same day by the Grand Council of Yoruba Youths, the statement said.
