A bullion van belonging to one of the first generation banks being used to smuggle in imported rice has been intercepted by men of the Oyo/Osun Command of the Nigeria Customs Service.
The command on Tuesday said that the van was intercepted along the Saki axis of Oyo state.
The Customs Area Controller, Tolutope Ogunkua, told newsmen that the van was loaded with bags of rice as at the time it was intercepted.
He said the two persons apprehended with the bullion van are in custody and will soon be charged to court.
According to him, the command’s surveillance men had an exchange of gun battle with the suspects who were later apprehended.
Ogunkua added that the command has since been on look of the particular bullion van which usually go with police escorts.
He disclosed further that the command also made some seizures which included 30 fairly used vehicles from different locations within the Command.
