The lawmaker representing Surulele Ogo Oluwa Federal Constituency of Oyo State in the House of Representatives, Hon Segun Dokun Odebunmi a.k.a Bunvic, on Sunday promised to bring more youth and sports programmes to his constituency in addition to the sports programmes on ground.
He made the pledge at the Soun Stadium in Ogbomoso during the final of the 2018 edition of the Bunvic Football Competition which he sponsors.
In a chat with journalists, Hon. Odebunmi, who is Chairman National Assembly Committee on Informatiom National Orientation, Ethics and Value, said the football competition is organized annually to foster stronger relationships among the youths in Ogbomoso and help them showcase their talents as part of an overall youth development agenda.
“I have been sponsoring sporting competitions for over 10 years and since we started many of the players we discovered have made it to the professional football league. I am a player myself. I love sport so much” the APC lawmaker said.
According to one of the tournament organisers, Kayode Adebayo (Coach Rogamila), 60 teams participated in the competition while six, (two from three zones), reached the finals.
Apart from the tournament final, the event featured Mock race, Boxing competition, and a novelty match between, Team Bunvic led by the lawmaker himself and members of Nigeria Football Association, Ogbomoso zone.
Director Generals of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN),Voice of Nigeria (VON), NTA and the National Film and Censors Board were represented at the event.
Also present were Council chairmen including Hon Gbodeniyi Ibrahim Chaiman Surulere Local Government; Hon Israel Akinwumi Ogundiran, Surulere North LCDA, and other political office holders.
