Chadian aircraft on Saturday bombed the Gamboru, a town in Borno that had been seized by Boko Haram.
According to security sources, the raid was carried out around midday by two fighter jets.
The insurgents seized the border town several months ago as part of its campaign to seize territory in the region and create an Islamic state.
Meanwhile, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Saturday supported the proposal by the African Union to set up a regional five-nation force of 7,500 troops to fight Boko Haram.
