Chelsea have completed the signing of Spain defender, Marc Cucurella, from Brighton in a deal worth more than £60 million.
The 24-year-old left-back, who scored one goal in 38 games in his only season for the Seagulls, signed a six-year contract.
“I’m really happy. It’s a big opportunity for me to join one of the best clubs in the world.
“I’m going to work hard to be happy here and help the team,” Cucurella said
Cucurella, who is a Barcelona academy graduate, has won one senior cap for Spain and played for the under-23 side that won silver at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
He is Brighton’s record sale, surpassing Ben White’s £50 million move to Arsenal last summer.
He follows the arrivals of Raheem Sterling from Man City (£47.5 million), Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli (£33 million), Gabriel Slonina from Chicago Fire (£12 million) and Carney Chukwuemeka from Aston Villa (£20 million) for a total expenditure of £172 million so far this season.
