A socio-political group, Coalition for a Better Nigeria, has congratulated Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu; former governor of the state, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, and Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, for the ongoing transformation in the state, especially over the recent commissioning of 1.4 km bridge and five network of roads at Pen Cinema, in Agege area of the state.
A press statement signed by the National Coordinator of the group, Comrade Awa Bamiji, over the weekend, said that governance is a serious business and it should be approached as such, adding that if these trends of development continue, Lagos in no time will be the fastest developing state in the world.
He said Lagos State should be a case study for every state and the Federal Government at large, towards achieving a better Nigeria.
Awa commended Lagos State Government for raising the flag of development by commissioning the 1.4 km dual carriage flyover and five network of roads.
“The bridge is a beauty to behold; apart from its amazing length, it was a timely response to the suffocating nature of the perennial gridlock of huge human and vehicular traffic flowing through the intersection.
“The heterogeneous nature of Lagos State coupled with its ever increasing Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) is a blessing to the government and the good people of the state.
“It is highly commendable that the Lagos State IGR is second to none in Nigeria, ever since the time of Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu as governor of the state till today,”he said.
The group urged Tinubu not to be distracted and keep up the good work of mentoring the governor.
“It is highly understandable that all these developments did not go down well with the conservative youths and leaders in Lagos and they will continue to make noise at the commissioning of every project like this, to really show the world their firm belief in stomach infrastructure rather than open acknowledgement of dividends of democracy for the benefit of all.
“We thank them all for their own role of calling global attention to ‘Wonders of Lagos State’ at every point in time as their own way of applauding excellence.
“We, youths, are very conscious of these positive developments that are now moulding the future of our society, and it is on this note we are saying “thank you all” for laying a solid foundation for these laudable achievements.
“We dedicate this historic chain of success to all past civilian governors and military dministrators in Lagos State, including the first civilian governor of the state, Late Alhaji Lateef Jakande; Late Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu (Rtd); Late Bragadier General Mobolaji Johnson (Rtd) and the last military administrator, General Buba Marwa (Rtd), who is now the Chairman, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA),” the statement concluded.
