There is a lifetime opportunity for interested corps members to become great business owners while in their service year, NYSC DG, Brig Gen Suleiman Kazaure has said.
During an interactive session with corps members at the Permanent Orientation Camp, Ogbakuta, Iseyin, Oyo State, recently, Kazaure urged corps members to take advantage of opportunities that come their way.
He expressed worry that after the compulsory one year service, educated, able and energetic youths still roam the streets poor and in search of jobs.
He urged the corps members to take advantage of the NYSC’s entrepreneural window through the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme in conjunction with financial institutions and empowerment agencies.
He described the programme as a “lifetime opportunity to becoming great entrepreneurs and captains of industries which will translate to improved Gross Domestic Product and a better life for all Nigerians”.
The Director General reminded the graduates that they were in their state of service to break new grounds and make some sacrifices for their fatherland.
“To be able to withstand the demands required of that challenging task, you need to curtail your absolute freedom and live alife of service to develop this nation”, he noted.
During her welcome address to the Director General, the State Coordinator, Mrs. Ifeoma Anidobi
said the camp required a multipurpose hall to accommodate lectures and other indoor activities. She said the camp needed a Parade Ground because the Sports Ground which serves dual purposes creates time and logistics contraints.
During the visit, the DG inaugurated the mini OBS studio at the camp. He commended Anidobi for her achievements in the state so far.
