The legislative arm of Kajola Local Government area of Oyo State, on Wednesday, suspended the local government chairman, Afolabi Salimonu, popularly called Borikansunwon, indefinitely.
The chairman, it was gathered, was suspended by the councillors during a sitting at the Legislative Chamber at the council’s secretariat.
The sitting had in attendance elected councillors from the 11 wards that made up of the local government.
The councillors, in a statement, said the move was in strict compliance with the constitutional framework, procedure of government legislative arm in the state
“The indefinite suspension was engendered, engineered and born out of seemingly ever-growing and uncheckmated executive excesses and recklessness, stiff-nakedness, recalcitrancy on the part of executive chairman coupled with gross and wanton misappropriation of funds.
“The indefinite suspension takes immediate effect without any further delay whatsoever.
“The Majority Leader in the person of Adediran Tajudeen representing Ward 02 (Elero) moved the motion on indefinite suspension while the Deputy Leader in the person of Amusat Adebare representing Ward 09 (Isia) seconded the motion.
“The sitting was presided over by the leader of the legislative council in the person of Ayegboyin Kehinde representing ward 08 (Isemi-Ile/Ilua),” the statemrnt read.
