A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered that the travelling documents of the immediate past National Security Adviser, Retired Colonel Sambo Dasuki, be released to allow him travel abroad for medical treatment.
Dasuki is standing trial for alleged possession of firearms and money laundering, charges which he denies.
His passport was held as part of his bail conditions.
The former NSA had urged the court to release the passport to enable him travel abroad for medical treatment.
After hearing the arguments from the prosecution and defence on Tuesday, the presiding judge, Adeniyi Ademola, said the prosecution failed to show reason why the document should not be released.
He ordered the court registrar to release the passport and allow Mr. Dasuki travel for three weeks, after which he would return the passport.
