A 42-year old man, Ibrahim Yahaya, was on Monday sentenced by a Magistrate court for stealing two fouls. He was arraigned on one-count charge of stealing with charge No: MI/1082c/2017.
The prosecutor, Mr. Oyebanji Oluseye told the court that the accused stole the two fowls in Bodija market around Kemiderin Zone One, Bodija Ibadan. He was said to have committed the crime on July 20 at about 5pm.
Oluseye said the fowls valued at N4000 belongs to one Mr. Oladele Abiodun.
The accused pleaded guilty, explaining that hunger pushed him into committing the crime”. He begged the court to “temper justice with mercy”
The court sentenced Yahaya to four days of community service within the court premises.
While sentencing the accused, the Magistrate, Mrs. Giwa Babalola, added that the accused be remanded in Agodi Prison, Ibadan and made to serve the four days punishment for five hours per day.
