The Kogi State Government has denied recording a third case of coronavirus in the state.
The Commissioner for Health, Dr Saka Haruna, said the state did not send any sample to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control(NCDC) that could warrant a third case.
NCDC on Wednesday announced that the recorded another COVID-19 case.
But Haruna, in a Facebook post, said the state government was not aware of the fresh case.
“The purported New Case: We are not aware of who the patient is, where and when the Test was conducted! No sample sent from KG,” the commissioner said.
The state recorded its first two COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, May 27.
Following the announcement of the index cases, Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, declared a two-week lockdown in Kabba/Bunu local government area of the state to allow for contact tracing.
The governor said although the state government had a reservation about the NCDC declaration concerning the index cases, it locked down the area as a proactive step in case of eventualities.
