Nigerian Institution of Surveyors (NIS), Oyo State branch, has donated medical equipment worth N250,000 to the Oyo State COVID-19 Task Force to assist the state government in its fight against the pandemic.
Handing over the equipment to the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Bashiru Bello, the NIS Chairman in the state, Prince Aderemi Kobiowu, who led other members of the association’s executives, eulogised the state government for it’s strategic approach it employed in combating the pandemic.
He said: “We are here today to support the state government to take care of people in the state. We appreciate the various approach applied so far to lessen the economic effect of the disease on the entire people of Oyo state.
“As an institution which one of her objectives is to give back to the society as part of our social responsibility, we therefore extend our support to the government in the fight against the disease.”
Kobiowu enjoined members of the public to assist the government in curbing the pandemic by following the guidelines, such as frequent washing of hands with soap and water, use of face masks and maintaining social distance.
Responding, the Commissioner for Health, Bello, thanked the association for their thoughtfulness and kindness.
“On behalf of His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, we thank the NIS executives and members for your support and kind gesture.
“When things happen like this, we use scientific knowledge, evidence based and logical approach to tackle it. So, we are all stakeholders inn the fight against COVID-19.
” We appreciate the support we are getting from corporate organisations as well as NCDC and I can assure you that the items would be justifiably applied,” Bello said.
The items donated include 1 carton × 400 pcs of triple packaging container; Five packs of Swab Sticks; Four packs of tongue depressor and Viral Transport Medium(VTM).
