Oyo State recorded 38 new coronavirus cases on Thursday, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the state to 1989.
Governor Seyi Makinde disclosed this on Friday via a post on his Twitter handle.
He said: The COVID-19 confirmation tests for thirty-eight suspected cases came back POSITIVE. The cases are from Oluyole (13), Ido (5), Egbeda (4), Ibadan N (4), Ibadan SW (3), Ogbomosho N (3), Akinyele (3), Ibadan NE (1), Lagelu (1) and Ibadan SE (1) Local Government Areas.”
The governor also said three confirmed COVID-19 cases received their second negative test results and have been discharged. This brings the number of discharged cases in Oyo State to 1011.
According to data obtained on the website of Nigeria Center for Disease Control, Oyo State currently has 959 active coronavirus cases, while 19 fatalities have been recorded.
