The Dangote petroleum refinery has denied fixing its petrol price.
Reports had claimed that oil marketers had projected that Dangote refinery will sell its petrol at N600 or N650/litre when it is finally released into the market.
Dealers under the aegis of Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) said they believe that the Dangote refinery would crash the price of petrol as it did with diesel.
However, the Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer of Dangote Group, Anthony Chiejina, said Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) is not its business partner yet.
“We have never discussed price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) with them, and they have no mandate or authority to speak for us, either for good or with hidden transcript,” he said.
He urged the public to desist from such speculative announcements, saying the company has official channels through which it disseminates information to its stakeholders.
The development comes amid expectations of petrol supply from the Dangote refinery this month.
Dangote refinery had on July 15, disclosed that it would commence petrol supply in August.
