The All Progressives Congress (APC), Oyo State chapter, has criticised Governor Seyi Makinde, over the demolition of Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State(BCOS) staff quarters, describing the action as wicked and insensitive.
The party in a statement signed on Friday by its Caretaker Publicity Secretary, Dr AbdulAzeez Olatunde, said if the Oyo State Government actually has anything it intends to build for BCOS, there are still acres of land in the premises of the corporation that the government cannot exhaust.
“When the rumour of the impending demolition of the staff quarters of the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State was trending and it was instantly denied as a ‘wicked rumour,’ Oyo APC felt relieved for a lot of reasons, which the most important is the paucity of fund as the Oyo State Government is making all residents to believe.
“However, that ‘wicked rumour’ has now crystallized to not only truth but wickedness, myopic and insensitivity of unfathomable measure.
“Indeed, if Government actually has anything it intends to build for the BCOS, there are still acres of land in the premises of BCOS that the Government cannot even exhaust.
“These were the set of people that were propounding theory of first finishing the Scout Camp market before taking traders away from the streets years ago but unfortunately failed woefully.
“Whatever they intend to build, are they not supposed to relocate the families living in the BCOS Staff Quarters before, if at all, the Staff Quarters must be demolished,” the statement said.
According to APC, “the beautiful thing about the current happenings is the policy somersault tendency of this administration which is what this administration would be greatly remembered for, like the phantom maize exportation Botswana and the rest.”
The APC wondered why Borno State that is the “epicentre of Boko Haram insurgency” is making giant stride in all facets of governance “whereas our own Government in Oyo State is still in campaign mode, midway to its tenure.”
The party urged the people of Oyo State to “open their eyes in 2023 when they would be exercising their franchise of electing their next governor and not allow these clueless and directionless set of people to set us back further.”
Oyo APC also commiserated with the auto spare parts traders at Agodi, who recently lost property worth millions of naira to an inferno.
“We pray Almighty God not to allow such inferno in that market and any other markets in Oyo State again.
“We wish to salute all Oyo APC gladiators who have made the party proud with their timely and generous donations and support for the Agodi spare parts market traders, such as Chief Bayo Adelabu; Engr Olasunkanmi Tegbe; Prof. Adeolu Akande; Sen Soji Akanbi and other proud ambassadors of APC in Oyo State,” the statement concluded.
