Diamond Bank Plc has apologised to former member of the House of Representatives, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, for publishing her name in the list of chronic debtors.
This comes a day after she filed a libel suit against the bank and Punch Newspapers in order to claim damages, a retraction and apology”.
The bank, apologising on Friday in their advertorials, wrote: “The inclusion of the name of Hon. Abike Dabiri(stated as director in Thriller Endeavours Ltd) was erroneous and is deeply regretted. The CentralBank of Nigeria has been informed of this error. Hon Abike Dabiri is not indebted to the bank in any capacity”
The former lawmaker acknowledged the apology on twitter and wrote: “Diamond bank apologizes to me in two newspapers. Agreed they erred.Well? If you were me what would you do #if1wasabike”
Not sure about what to do with the apology, she tweeted further: “Hi Tweeps. Retweet if you think i should accept the @DiamondBankNG apology or favorite if you think i should maintain the suit #ifiwasabike”
He followers on the social network are already divided. While some advise that going ahead with the suit would teach the bank and other “mediocres” a lesson, others said she should forgive and forget because “to err is human, to forgive is divine”
