Senator Dino Melaye is reportedly set to slam a N5billion libel suit on Sahara Reporters.
Vanguard quotes a source as saying that the APC senator who represents Kogi West Senatorial District, suing the online news medium for alleged defamation of character, wrongful accusation, among other charges.
The suit, according to his media office, would be filed at the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, High Court, at 9am today, the newspaper said.
Early Wednesday, the senator shared a photo from his NYSC days on Twitter.
He tweeted: “ABU 99 set at NYSC camp in KD. Me in blue short”
Melaye has been embroiled in certificate scandal since Sahara Reporters, an online media platform, published report that the lawmaker never graduated from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he attended his first degree course.
On Tuesday, following a motion by Senator Ali Ndume, APC, Borno South, the senate decided to probe the allegation and refered it to the Ethics and Privileges Committee.
The committee was directed to investigate the claim that he does not possess an authentic first degree certificate from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
Although during Wednesday’s plenary, Melaye, indrotuced himself as an authentic graduate of ABU, Zaria.
