There has been a major disaster in Accra, Ghana. A petrol station went up in flames on Wednesday evening killing more than 78 people.
According to reports, many of the victims had sought shelter at the Neoplan Bus station due to torrential rain. The Bus station was near the Goil gas station.
Prince Billy Anaglate, the fire brigade spokesman said that about a dozen people were taken to hospital after the blast, which is believed to have been an accident linked to the downpour.
The heavy downpour led to floods that submerged some buildings and vehicles causing people to take refuge in the gas station. Most buildings that had caught fire from the explosion burned away into the night.
