The new Olubadan-elect, High Chief Lekan Balogun, has enjoined residents of Ibadan to remain peaceful and discard all unfounded rumours and insinuations capable of disturbing the peace of Ibadan land.
The Olubadan-elect gave the admonition on Wednesday during an international press conference called by the kingmakers.
According to Balogun, the Olubadan-in-Council has been up and doing by liaising with the Oyo State Government to ensure that every necessary step to sustain the peace in Ibadan is strictly followed.
He said: “I enjoin you all to remain peaceful in all your conducts in order to sustain our unequalled historical peaceful co-existence for which Ibadan land is globally known.
“I, therefore, enjoin you all to discard with all unfounded rumours and insinuations capable of disturbing the peace of Ibadan land, irrespective of the quarter from which such fake news emanate.”
Balogun commiserated with Governor Seyi Makinde and members of his cabinet; royal dignitaries of the Olubadan-in-Council, members of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) as well as people of Ibadan land on the transition to eternity of Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji.
He prayed for peaceful repose of the soul of the late monarch.
